WELCOME
My name is Masha and I’m the Principal Designer and founder of MFD.
I could list the universities I attended, the publications featuring my work, and the awards I’ve received – but none of that defines me. What truly matters are my incredible clients, who trust me to create interiors that give goosebumps at first glance, make contractors exclaim, “It’s impossible!”, and ultimately bring sheer delight once the result is revealed.
With every project, I aim to keep it simple – but somehow, an idea always emerges that the space cannot live without. Yes, I love a challenge. If your layout is complicated or “problematic,” you might just become my favourite client, because I specialize in solving the unsolvable.
My clients are my best education and my proudest accolades. I am endlessly grateful to those who embraced unconventional ideas – from custom hand-drawn wallpaper and ergonomic desks to pull-out solutions for small spaces, bold colour schemes, hay-in-resin tables, hanging sofas, puzzle-like tables, transforming cabinets, and more. Proposing something untried can be daunting, but I never shy away from ideas I haven’t executed before – because every new challenge is an opportunity to grow.
I am a master at finding the weak or “negative” aspects of a home and transforming them into strengths and beauty. But if you’re looking to pick decor or cover a poor design with decoration simply, I may not be the right fit. I create interiors that need very little decor, or that are built around a singular art object from the start.
I firmly believe that a home is not an expression of the designer’s ego and should never blindly follow trends. Interiors should reflect your private emotions, unspoken dreams, daily rituals, family values, cultural codes, and what genuinely moves you – not what impresses colleagues, acquaintances, or advisors.
Tell us your story, and we’ll turn it into design!
“ A gorgeous interior is meaningless unless it makes you feel something for YOU "
Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by the way spaces shape how we live. I spent hours sketching rooms, building little houses, and imagining how people could move, work, and feel in them.
I didn’t have the courage to pursue architecture at the time, so I started studying Graphic Design and Advertising. By my third year, I had become an Art Director at an advertising agency, learning how colour, composition, and visual storytelling can shape emotion—a foundation that now informs every interior I create.
The dream of designing interiors never left me. I shifted my path, graduated from Interior Design School, and founded my own design company. After moving to Canada, I continued to deepen my practice in the interior field, expanding my knowledge at Ryerson University, always striving to create spaces that are both beautiful and deeply personal.
